What is the best product to get rid of acne if salycic acid seems to break my skin out in cystic acne?

Everything seems to have salycic acid in it! And all I keep hearing is how proactiv dries skin really bad or just doesn’t seem to really work on the cystic acne. I don’t want to take antibiotics or go on expensive drugs like accutane. Is there anything over-the-counter that could help?
